Dental camp for IDPs and for Army 2009-shettikulam organized by 'Sri Lanka Welfare Foundation - Calgary Canada'

10 days ago, the Sri Lanka Welfare Foundation of Calgary organized a Dental Health Camp at the IDP Centers in North of Sri Lanka. Dr. Lasantha Gunasekara very active committee member of Sri Lanka Welfare Foundation took the initiative to hold this camp in Vauniya. He and some of his former colleagues from the Faculty of Dental, Peradeniya university attended this camp.

The dean of Dental Faculty Prof. E.A.P.D. Amaratunge and Prof. R.L. Wijeyeweera together with 15 dental staff academics spent 4 days to help the IDP's in their dental problems. One day was allocated to treat the members of the heroic forces.

The Sri Lanka Welfare Foundation of Calgary wish to thank the Sri Lankan Calgarians and the academic staff of the Dental Faculty who helped to make this great humanitarian mission a success. . We also must appreciate Dr. Lasantha Gunasekara's dedication for this project. He spent his own money to travel to Sri Lanka and completely organized this massive task within few days.
Half of the Profits from the 'ABA' movie were donated for 'Welfare Foundation'

The profits from the 'ABA' movie which was screened in Calgary few weeks ago were donated to both 'Welfare Foundation' and the 'Seruwavila Project'.

The chief organizer of the above movie show Mr. Lal Perera handed over the cheque for $1600 to the officers of Welfare Foundation. As you may have remembered Mr. Lal Perera pledged that he will donate half of the profits of the movie to our organization on the 'One Nation One Country' event that was held in May 2009.

On behalf of the Patriotic Sri Lankan Calgarians we wish to thank all the organizers of this movie. We are planning to donate this money for the scholarship fund which is organized by the 'Seva Vanitha Unit' of the Ministry of Defense. Children of the fallen heros of our defense forces will be benefited by this fund.

Sri Lanka Calgary Welfare Foundation which has been established by Sri Lankans in Canada with the intention of uplifting the living standard of our war heroes who fought valiantly to bring the peace for the whole island, made a donation of 7500/ = Canadian Dollar for the welfare of residential war heroes in Ragama Ranaviru Sevana yesterday (July 14 ).

The representative of Sri Lanka Calgary Welfare Foundation Mr. Kapila Nissanka handed over the cheque to Lieutenant Ariyapala, an official of Ragama Ranaviru Sevana. under the guidance of the chairperson of Seva Vanitha Unit , Defence Ministry Mrs .Ioma Rajapaksha at the Ministry premises.

A few other members of Seva Vanitha Unit were also present for the occasion.

The world still commemorates those heroes of war who died in the Second World War to save the world. As long as the poppy flower blossoms those heroes are remembered. Today it is necessary to name a flower of our own to commemorate the Sri Lankan heroes of war who have saved this world from terror.

Sri Lankan Patriots in Calgary were first to commemorate the elimination of brutal terrorist menace from the Sri Lankan Soil.
This 'One Country One Nation' Jayagosha cultural evening was held on 30th May 2009, Saturday at the Alexandra Center Society in Calgary.
More than 450 Sri Lankans attended this event. Special tribute was performed to the fallen heroes such as Hasalaka Gamini. Prominent Sri Lankans paid tribute to our fallen heroes by offering red roses.
Participants voluntarily donate money to assist our disabled Ranaviruwos and displaced civilians in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan musical group Ridma was so generous enough to provide music free of charge.
We managed to collect $5938.00 at this evening. Several well wishers and the organization committee of the event donate money to make this event a success.

Following Patriotic Sri Lankan Calgarians donated funds for the above cause.
